Slipknot's Corey Taylor dismisses modern pop music

Corey Taylor, front man of Slipknot and Stone Sour has been extremely uncomplimentary of the state of modern music, likening it to “being stung by 1,000 bees all at once”.

The rock legend was speaking in an interview with Loudwire magazine and did not hold back, also describing pop music as being "canned and processed".

He said: "It's so Auto-Tuned, it's so beat-corrected, it's so canned and processed and lifeless… I mean, you might as well be listening to a f**king piece of wood at that point.

"It bothers me, because I put so much into everything I do, I put so much into my music - I bleed for it and die for it every god damn night, you know?

"To watch these people basically let a computer go through the motions and do all the work for them, it's insulting to everyone out there who has more talent and less attention."

This isn't the first time that Taylor has spoken out recently. He made his feelings known about Kanye West after the rapper called himself “the greatest living rock star”. Taylor's response was: "You are not the greatest living rock star of all time. The fact that you had to tell people that kind of says it all."

Is Taylor right to be so critical of modern pop music? His style of music is rather a niche that doesn't necessarily appeal to everyone having said that, it is clear that he does put a lot of effort and personal sacrifice into it. Why wouldn't he be critical when a lot of pop music has a team of people in the mix to bring it to fruition?

His recent comments just highlight the fact that modern music can be very repetitive and artificial but then, pop music by its definition is designed to appeal to the public en masse.
