Ellie Dixon 'Big Lizard Energy' review: a well crafted tight arrangement

Ellie Dixon is developing an online presence and energy that is seeing her fanbase grow around the UK. Originally from Cambridge, she is now sharing her music throughout the UK, with a city tour planned for May of this year.

It’s the line ‘problems are big but I’m bigger’ that I feel helps the audience understand what this song is all about. With a title of Big Lizard Energy and references to Jurassic killers, the notion of adopting the Big Lizard persona is to overcome issues that life can throw our way and helps Ellie Dixon conquer her fears.

Musically, there are some really quirky elements that make this release quite different to other contemporary songs out there at the moment. The three things that really stood out for me were the percussion sound and rhythm throughout the track, the semitone slide on the vocals in the chorus that made me nod in appreciation and the cutest little growl at the end of the song, which isn’t really that scary! The arrangement is a tight, well crafted song, with nice overdubbed vocal harmonies and clear sections. Ellie Dixon is clearly a young artist that knows what she’s doing
