Canadian songstress Shania Twain has launched a brilliant comeback album, her first offering in almost six years. “Queen of Me” has now been released and has absolutely been worth the wait. Twain’s delightful vocals sound even better than ever, as she continues to dance that line so effortlessly between country and pop.

This is not the first time Twain has “come back.” Her career experienced a 15-year hiatus due to her being plagued with health issues that almost destroyed her singing voice. Lyme disease hit her hard, and she needed two open-throat surgeries as part of her treatment for the illness. But her strength and resilience saw her through, and while she did release “Now” in 2017, somehow, “Queen of Me,” feels like she is truly back.

Featuring 12 wonderful tracks, “Queen of Me,” is the singer at her best. She sounds stronger than ever and seems to have brought a renewed confidence with her that felt slightly lacking on “Now.” She has already gifted us with two singles, “Waking Up Dreaming” and “Giddy Up!” and they have proven to be a wonderful taste of the rest of the album.

Her signature female empowerment and positivity are on point here, and it feels like nothing can stop her now. She is a woman who has been through hell and comes out stronger on the other side. “Queen of Me” feels like the perfect blend of acidic revenge and girlish fun, all whipped together to make you want to see her succeed.

Twain’s voice sounds very different from the height of her popularity in the late-90s. While treatment has managed to save her voice from total ruin, she has had to adapt it to now fit a lower register. This cannot have been an easy task, but she has pulled it off like the true professional that she is. Even though her voice is lower, it has lost none of its feminine beauty and power that has always made Twain such a wonderful performer.

Check out “Queen of Me” now available on all streaming platforms, you will not be disappointed.
