Veering in another new direction, like Bring Me the Horizon have done from the beginning of their career, ‘Fallout’ featuring Masked Wolf lets the two groups explore a whole new array of sounds, complimenting each other beautifully.

The song, as it starts, seems extremely hip-hop through and through, and that’s definitely the dominant tone, for the first half at least. Oli Sykes gentle delivery of the chorus’ melody sets the tone for the song, that eerie edge that BMTH usually brings. Masked Wolf enters the soundscape for the first verse, his raspy voice serving the tone of the song excellently. Masked Wolf’s consistent flow, using breaks and speed-ups to keep it interesting, drives the song forward very dynamically, bringing the song to the chorus once again. An explosion of rock instruments, such as blaring electric guitars, crashing drums, and thick bases, come into play, giving context for the chorus to follow. The song continues with its verse-chorus structure and comes to what feels like a climax in its next chorus. Oli takes his voice up an octave, reaching those emotions that the song needed, with that signature metal grit. The bridge that follows erupts even more, showing signs of the deathcore roots of Bring me the Horizons, guttural vocals and all. The song closes full circle, with the lower-octave, calmer delivery of the chorus fading the song away.

‘Fallout’ is a wonderful collaboration between two very different sets of artists. Bring me the Horizons’ chameleon nature of blending into any sound they’re given is incredibly admirable, and Masked Wolf’s performance served the song perfectly, especially in its more hip-hop oriented sections. The two brought each other contrast that would’ve never been imagined until it happened, and the world is surely grateful for it. ‘Fallout’ is a killer song, addictive in almost every way, with enough to please just about anybody.
