Review: Burn For You Boyzlife

Never has pop music sounded so talented – Boyzlife have created an absolute masterpiece with their newest single, ‘Burn For You’.

On the surface, with the acoustic guitar giving the foundation for the intro, it almost gives off a southern-rock feel to the song. The first verse begins introducing the pop elements more present in the chorus, changing the feel of the entire song very drastically as soon as it hits. The chorus has both an 80s and 2010 radio-pop feel to it. The musical ideas and composition are very much the former, but the dramatic production screams the latter. The blend of the two, similar to songs like “Go” by Cody Fry, create a gorgeous, large sound that’s so very special. The raspy voices fit the vibe so perfectly, and the chorus ending with a minor fourth chord puts the perfect twist to such a well-rehearsed formula. The vocal harmonies keep on building with each iteration of the chorus, with a guitar solo accentuating the final chorus accompanied by string punches. The performances are absolutely stellar throughout the entire song, and the production is so crystal clear it’s almost unbelievably perfect. The structure, though quite standard for a pop song, works wonderfully for the track. From start to finish, there’s always something to marvel at with ‘Burn For You’.

‘Boyzlife’, already a supergroup of pop veterans, have brought new life to this side of pop that’s been largely ignored for a long time, and brought it a notch higher than it ever had before. The dynamics from section-to-section make this tune a captivating listen from start to finish. ‘Burn for You’ is one of the most impressive songs to come out this year, already in February. The chemistry between the two musicians, both with voice and guitar along with everything else in the production, is nothing short of impressive and amazing.
