Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Imelda May has teamed up with none other than Ronnie Wood for her new track Made To Love, a joyous song about love in all its guises taken from her upcoming new album 11 Past The Hour, which is due for release via Decca Records on 16 April, a week earlier than originally scheduled.

Also featured on the track are activist and author Gina Martin and lawyer and author Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, two amazing women who May first met at an International Women’s Day event. The song is a powerful, rousing number that features more of May’s stunning vocals, and follows Just One Kiss as the next release from the upcoming new album, which includes collaborations with the likes of Wood, Miles Kane and Noel Gallagher.

Writing on her official Facebook page about her new single, May said: “I wrote this song from the perspective of Love itself as a living thing and how much it has suffered for simply being. It frightens some with the power of its simplicity, purity, truth and breathtaking beauty. It puts a mirror to us and only through it can we see our true ourselves. I believe in Love. I believe in fighting for Love. I believe we are MADE TO LOVE.”

May debuted the track live on the Graham Norton Show recently and you can see her amazing performance below. “It was so wonderful to be back on stage and to finally sing Made To Love, live, for the first time,” she also declared on her official Facebook page. “I want this to be that song, when we’re eventually back at a festival or gig, you feel all the love and can just throw your arms around people beside you and dance, sing together and feel connected with each other again.

“I wanted that moment on the album so that we’re well versed and ready for it. I am really excited to go on tour again next spring. Oh God, how good that will feel!”
