Viola Beach Killed in Car Accident - Campaign Starts to Get Them Chart Number 1

British indie band Viola Beach have been involved in a car crash that killed all four members along with their manager.

The band were about to embark their first international tour in Sweden and were due to perform at the Where's the Music? festival in Norrköping.

Swedish police are investigating the cause of the accident which saw their car fall more than 82 feet from a bridge into a canal.

The victims of the crash have been named as vocalist Kris Leonard, guitarist River Reeves, bassist Tomas Lowe and drummer Jack Dakin, as well as their manager Craig Tarry.

Tarry’s family told the BBC: “Craig was a warm, loving person who had worked tirelessly to achieve success and follow his dreams within the music industry.
"He will be sadly missed by his family and his colleagues.

Reeves’ family said: "River had such talent and such humility, such charm and such innocence. It seems so unfair that he can be taken so cruelly from us like this."

Tweets of support for the band’s families have been coming in from famous names including Radio 1’s Huw Stephens who said: “So sorry to hear the news about Viola Beach and their manager. The saddest news. Thinking of all their families at this awful time.”

The band were due to perform in Guildford on Saturday night but the gig was cancelled.

A campaign has started to get the band to number one. Early reports are coming through that they have already made it to the top 40
