Ricky Wilson Hits Out at the X Factor

Ricky Wilson of The Voice has hit out at rival talent show X Factor, saying that it creates flash in the pan artists.

He also addressed claims that his how does not produce instant stars, saying that their objective on The Voice is to create talented artists that will last, rather than be successful for a little while to then fade into obscurity.

Responding to the revelation that The Voice will be re-homed on ITV, he said: "I think it's weird to have both shows on the same channel.

"We've found hundreds of stars, but just because we can't finish a show, wrap them in a bow and give them a number one, it's not a problem because if you are doing that, their careers will be very short-lived.

"We're not trying to make a flash in the pan. We're trying to make a star who burns for a very long time. A flash in the pan burns brightly and then disappears very quickly.

"I think it'll be odd now the show is going to ITV, because what queue do you join?

"I think people will know whether they are going to follow the big X or the big V because they are two very different shows."

Both talent shows have had their ups and downs. X Factor has suffered its lowest ratings over the last couple of years and there were rumours that it was to be cancelled to make way for The Voice although this has now been dismissed.
