Whitney Houston to return to stage as a hologram

Whitney Houston is set to be bought back to the stage – in the form of a hologram.

The star passed away back in 2012 but it was recently announced that Hologram USA CEO Alki David and President of the Whitney Houston Estate Pat Houston intended to work together to see Houston perform once again in hologram form. It is intended that the show will debut at a currently undisclosed US location before going on the road and touring the world.

"I was heartbroken when Whitney passed away in 2012," said David in a statement.

"The opportunity to help share her spectacular gifts with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business.

"We've got technology that's causing a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate - I'm confident we'll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney's amazing artistry."

Pat added: "It's a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come. I look forward to the partnership."

Fans of the singer have had many reasons to celebrate recently with this latest announcement and also a biopic centred around Houston's life although it was revealed that her estate does not approve of it. Loyal fans have been warned by Houston's estate to prepare themselves for the worst once the biopic is released.

There will surely be mixed emotions about Houston's hologram taking to the stage. On the one hand, it gives fans who were never able to see the legend perform but on the other, if the show is not created carefully, it could mean that hard core fans are left disappointed. Technology has come a long way and hologram's have been used to represent deceased stars quite successfully before but I think it would be wrong to give fans unrealistic expectations.
